Suicide bomber kills four in Peshawar

At least four people were killed and 11 others injured after a suicide bomber targeted an internally displaced persons (IDPs) registration camp at Tehmash Khan Stadium on Dalazak Road on Sunday.

As per details, the 22-year-old suicide bomber, posing as an IDP, entered the camp set up for Tirah Valley IDPs in a football stadium. According to witnesses, the unidentified suicide bomber first opened fire and then detonated his jacket.

A mosque located inside the stadium including nearby buildings were also damaged.

The Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) reached the scene and cordoned off the area as a probe into the incident was conducted.

BDS official Zahid Khan said eight to 10 kilogrammes of explosives were used with pellets and iron pieces which caused damage.

Rescue 1122 and Edhi officials shifted the injured to LadyReadingHospital where some of the injured were reported to be in a critical condition.

Operations SSP Najeebjur Rehman confirmed the four deaths and injuries.

“The suicide bomber fired at the Khasadar sentry and then blew himself up, killing four,” he said.

The doctor on duty confirmed that they have received three dead while eight persons were injured critically among them two were in serious condition.

 

PRESIDENT, PM FLAY BLAST:

President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif have condemned the Peshawar blast.

Expressing heartfelt sympathies with the bereaved families the president prayed for eternal peace of the departed souls and for the courage of the bereaved families.

The president directed the quarters concerned to ensure best medical assistance to those injured in the incident and also prayed for early recovery of injured in the blast.

Nawaz said that the government was trying to foil the nefarious designs of those playing with the lives of people. He asked the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to ensure best possible treatment for the injured and prayed for the departed souls.
