A special team of the food department along with district officers concerned raided in Panul Aqil, Nosheroferoz, Moro and Kunri and recovered 225,000 hoarded wheat bags. The special team besides sealing 12 factories and godowns in the said cities shifted the recovered wheat bags to the government stores.
The officials during a meeting on Sunday briefed that Provincial Minster for Food Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar that the Sindh food department had procured 935,000 ton wheat so far and target of 13 lacs ton wheat would be accomplished soon. The meeting stressed the need to further accelerate the campaign against hoarders and not to spare them at any cost.
The provincial minister for food was briefed that all wheat procurement centres were functioning well and departmental action had been taken against those officers of the food department who delayed in distributing jute bags to the growers. The food minister directed the officers to continue their campaign against hoarders, profiteers and commission mafia and not to bear any pressure in this regard.
