Five civilians were killed and 36 wounded in a suicide bomb attack on an Afghan army vehicle in southern Afghanistan on Sunday.
Local government spokesman Dawkhan Menapal said four Afghan army soldiers were also wounded in the attack that occurred in Maywand district of Kandahar province.
No one has claimed responsibility for the attack but Afghan security forces are frequently targeted by insurgents. Violence has intensified in the country as international troops prepare to withdraw at the end of the year.
