CTP comes hard on wheelie-doers

City Traffic Police (CTP) Rawalpindi have intensified special campaign launched against one-wheelers and have arrested eight wheelie-doers from near AyubPark.

According to Rawalpindi Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shoaib Khurram Janbaz, cases under Section 99/A have been registered against wheelie-doers in Civil Lines police station and their motorcycles have been impounded.

Strict orders have been issued to all the traffic wardens, inspectors, deputy superintendents of police (DSPs) of all sectors that action in accordance with the law should be taken against one-wheelers and no one should be spared.

The motorcycles especially prepared for one wheeling should be impounded.

The CTP had launched special drive against wheelie and strict action was taken against the violators. He said several arrangements were made to curb the activity particularly Airport Road, Peshawar Road, Jhelum Road, Ayub Park and other areas aimed at protecting the youngsters as one wheeling is a cause of deaths and severe injuries for the riders, said the CTO.

Though, the activity was already being checked by traffic officials deputed on the city roads but special arrangements have also been made to control rash and dangerous driving and one wheeling in the city, he added.
