Singer Ankit Tiwari, who rose to fame with his blockbuster, hit song ‘Sun Raha Hai Na’ from ‘Aashiqui 2, has been reportedly arrested on rape charges. The singer’s brother Ankur Tiwari too has been arrested for threatening the victim.
As per reports, the victim is Ankit’s girlfriend, an event management professional, who the singer has decided not to marry despite promising to marry her.
Quoting a source, a report said that the victim is 28-years old and is not from the film industry. She was staying with her sister in Mumbai and met the singer through common friends. Since then the two have been in touch with each other and the two brothers used to visit her house frequently.
The police have said that the incident happened late last night. The singer had come to meet the girl at her sister’s home when she was alone, and allegedly raped her.
