Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Wednesday said that the struggle for ‘change’ will restart on May 11 from D-Chowk, Islamabad.

Addressing a press conference, the PTI leader said that he had appeared before the court to ask according to which law stay order was granted against the recounting of votes in NA-122.

He said that the PTI was not launching the movement to seek mid-term elections rather it was aiming at strengthening the democratic system in Pakistan.

“Those who think that the tsunami has died down will be shocked to see a huge crowd on May 11 and the movement of change will not end till a real change takes place in the country. “We will give a timeframe to the government to meet our charter of demands and our protest will continue till they are implemented,” he said.

He said that a media group had always played a negative role in pitting institutions against each other.

“Why was an employee of this media group first made the caretaker chief minister of the province and then appointed as the head of the Cricket Board. He later influenced a lucrative deal in favour of his media employer,” he said.

Khan again alleged that the media group was involved in rigging in the May 11,2013 general elections.

Moreover, Khan also said that PTI was ready for re-counting of votes in KP constituencies where it won seats during last year’s general election.

NOC WITHHELD:

Meanwhile, the Islamabad district administration on Wednesday raised objections on an application filed by the PTI to hold a protest demonstration at D-Chowk in Islamabad on May 11.

The PTI had announced that it would mark May 11 as the first anniversary of poll rigging by holding a demonstration at the central place in the federal capital. Pakistan Awami Tehreek and Jamaat-e-Islami have also announced to hold similar protests in the capital.

On Wednesday, the Islamabad district administration said that it could not issue the PTI a no-objection certificate for holding the protest because it had used the word ‘Jalsa’ in its application. The administration also said that the party had not mentioned its preparations regarding lighting or routes in the application, and neither has it stated any time duration for holding the demonstration.

The PTI has also been asked to provide its security plan after which permission may be granted.
