National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq on Wednesday said that the rights of labour class will be protected by the Parliament as envisaged in the Constitution of the country.
In his message on the occasion of Labour Day, he paid, high tributes to labourers of the country who, are engines and drivers of progress and a vital organ in the economy of the country.
Islam emphasises the welfare and timely payment of awards and salaries to ensure well-being of labourers, he added.
“We are observing May Day with a resolve to reaffirm our commitment to the dignity of labour and to pay tribute to the valiant and heroic struggle of the workers of Chicago who sacrificed their lives for the fundamental rights of their fellow workers,” he added.
While recognising their services, the speaker urged the labour class to work hard with devotion to contribute to the economic development of the country.
NA Deputy Speaker Murtaza Javed Abbasi in his message lauded the services of working and labour class for their meaningful contribution towards the economy of the country. He assured them of government’s support in protection of their rights and also pledged to look after the social welfare.
The NA is alive to their problems and will continue to debate their problems in the House, he added.
