Addition of 3rd, 4th and 5th lanes to Kashmir Highway revised, NA body told

The Standing Committee on Planning, Development and Reform was informed on Monday that addition of 3rd, 4th and 5th lanes to Kashmir Highway from Peshawar Mor to GT Road has been revised by construction of new bridge for the additional carriageway, Islamabad.
The committee met on Monday in Parliament House, under the chairmanship of Abdul Majeed Khan Khanan Khail. The Capital Development Authority (CDA) briefed the Committee that addition of 3rd, 4th and 5th lanes to Kashmir Highway from Peshawar More to GT road has been revised by construction of new bridge for the additional carriageway, Islamabad.
The civic body further informed the NA body that in addition, rehabilitation and improvement of existing two lanes and construction of three additional lanes on northern and southern carriageway of Kashmir Highway between Peshawar More and GT road measuring 11 km.
Similarly, rehabilitation and extensions of six existing bridges, construction of a grade separated intersection at Golra and box culverts to provide under passes at proposed 10th, 11th and 12th avenues having capacity of six lanes, proper drainage system, improvement of road junctions and footpaths along with allied facility.
The CDA further informed that the project in question will be completed by June 30, 2014 which to be inaugurated by the prime minister.
The PWD director general briefed on present status of new Pak Secretariat Block, Constitution Avenue, Islamabad. He said that work on the main building of new Pak Secretariat Block was started on June 19, 2007 cost of which comes to approximately Rs 1884 million.
He said that the building is not worth occupation for at least nine months due to defective planning.
He assures the Committee that new Pak Secretariat Block to be completed in six months.
Muhammad Athar Hussain Shah Gillani, Dr Ibadullah, Shazia Ashfaq Mattu, Shamasunnisa, Dr Nafisa Shah, Qaiser Jamal, Sheikh Salahuddin, Asyia Nasir, Sher Akber Khan and Iftikharuddin were present in the meeting.
