Governor to solve lawyers’ problems

GUJRANWALA – Punjab Governor Latif Khosa has said that he is the first governor who belongs to lawyers’ community and will solve their problems on top priority. He was talking to a delegation of People’s Lawyers Forum Gujranwala at the governor’s house the other day. The delegation was led by PLF President Ahwar Tufail Warraich while other members Aftab Zaidi, Asif Nadeem, Sheikh Ezad Masood, Muhammad Nauman Aziz and Ahad Mahmood Ramay were among the participants.
The governor invited lawyers to mark the federal government’s land in the province to establish lawyers’ colony and said that he would proceed for it as President Asif Ali Zardari had already extended clear instructions for this purpose. He also hailed the services of lawyers from Gujranwala for the restoration of independent judiciary and supremacy of the constitution in the country.
15,468 SEATS FOR 183 ASI POSTS: As many as 15,468 candidates, including 520 females, appeared in the examination conducted at the Jinnah Stadium Gujranwala for 183 posts of assistant sub inspectors. The Elite Force, contingents of special branch and a large number of security personnel were deployed for the security purposes while Rescue 1122 was also called to tackle any emergency. The police arrested a candidate Irfan Bashir for cheating while the stadium presented a festival-like situation due to the examination.
GDA DETERMINED TO ADDRESS LESSEES’ PROBLEMS: Gujranwala Development Authority (GDA) Director General Mumtaz Ahmad Qureshi has assured the lessees of Trust Plaza of solving their problems regarding lease agreements and civic facilities. He was talking to a delegation of Traders Association Trust Plaza after assuming the charge of the director general’s office. He said the regularisation of transfer cases, enhancement of rent after three years and renewal of lease agreements after every three years would be approved by GDA Board of Governors so that the prevailing unrest among traders could be sorted out.
Seminar on growing vegetables at domestic level: Gujranwala Environmental Organisation (GEO) organised a seminar under ‘Green Gujranwala Campaign’ to arrange plantation in Solar Energy Park Ghanta Ghar and grow vegetables at domestic level. Chaudhry Liaqat Bhatti was the chief guest while GEO Resident Engineer Shahbaz Malik threw light on the endeavours of the agriculture department for growing vegetables at domestic level. He asked the participants of the seminar to support the Gujranwala City District Government for increasing the production of vegetables. Deputy District Officer Dr Iftikhar Ahmad gave important information regarding growing vegetables and getting a reasonable production. Engineer Irfan Ahmad and Ms Farhat Nawaz also addressed the seminar and distributed free seeds among the participants.
