KARACHI
The divisional and district administration has fined 122 shopkeepers and fine of Rs 510,000 were imposed for overcharging and violating officially approved price list while five flour sellers were arrested for continuous profiteering.
According to a statement issued here on Friday, the actions against profiteers were taken in the areas including Landhi, Korangi, Airport, Shah Faisal, Bin Qasim, Orangi, North Nazimabad, Gulberg, Liaqatabad, Gulzar Hijri, Gulshan Iqbal, Baldia, SITE, Manghopir, Civil Line, Garden, Aram Bagh and Saddar.
During crackdown the administration has fined 35 milk sellers, five vegetable sellers, four food items grocers, three chicken sellers and 75 flour sellers.
Karachi Commissioner Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui has said that operations against profiteers are underway in the city by the divisional and districts administrations.
