The Sindh Assembly witnessed a ruckus on Friday over the recent power theft allegations of State Minister for Power and Water Abid Sher Ali and over the prolonged power outages in the province.
Chaotic scenes were reported after the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) members slammed the PML-N for prolonged hours of electricity load shedding.
The session began under the chairmanship of Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani where the lawmakers belonging to the PPP started shouting at the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) members on the issue of load shedding.
PPP legislator Ghulam Qadir Chandio said that load shedding had made people’s lives miserable. He criticised PM Nawaz Sharif and Abid Sher Ali on which the PML-N members protested. Members of both parties stood in their seats and shouted slogans. PPP lawmaker Nisar Khuhro said that it is not right to call the people ‘thief’ instead of realising their own mistakes.
Meanwhile, the speaker tried to defuse the situation.
PML-N lawmaker Irfanullah Marwat said that it was unethical to call MPAs thieves, adding that action should be taken against those involved in power theft.
Khuhro said the state minister for power should think before giving any statement.
