LAHORE – Multan Division won the 58th Railways Athletics Championships title leaving behind all the other divisions with Ayesha Hussain and Taufiq Hussain becoming the best players of the department.
Federal Minister for Railways Haji Ghulam Ahmad Bilour was the chief guest of the final day and gave the trophies to the winners. Multan pocketed first spot with 270 points, followed by Lahore 218 points and Workshop got 150 points. The overall Railway Annual Sports winner was Workshop Division who took possession of “Walton Trophy” while Lahore finished second.
Rawalpindi’s Abid Hussain was declared best athlete while Ayesha Hussain (hockey) and Taufiq Hussain (taekwondo) became Players of the Year. The two day event was opened by Shahid Hussain Raja, Secretary/Chairman Railways. “The private sector can play a role in engaging youth in various kinds of sports and healthy activities to contribute in building a healthy society,” said Bilour.
