London Police searching for a Pakistani student of Bradford University, who went missing in Liverpool more than six weeks ago, have recovered a body believed to be him from the River Mersey.
Aamir Qadeer, 21, a first-year engineering student, was last seen in Bradford on February 26 before travelling by train to Leeds and then vanishing in Liverpool.
His family made repeated pleas for information on his disappearance, including appeals in Bradford, Leeds and Liverpool city centres.
“The body was recovered by emergency services, following a call from a member of the public at about 9am,” said Investigating officer Detective Inspector Neil Benstead.
The body will be handed over to the relatives after medico-legal formalities.
