LCWU has something for out-of-school children

Lahore College for Women University staff, faculty members and the members of the Senior Management Committee welcomed Higher Education Secretary Abdullah Khan Sumbal to the launch ceremony of the Laboratory Primary School for out-of-school children. Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Sabiha Mansoor shared her vision in the establishment of a school for out-of-school, underprivileged and marginalised children, which would serve as a model in setting up similar schools in entire Punjab and could be replicated by other public and private sector universities.

The vice chancellor emphasised that the school aims to nurture its students as good citizens and cultivate strong values amongst them. Dr Sabiha stressed the need to appreciate diversity and to promote teaching in bilingual mode. She suggested multiple intervention strategies to introduce sports, weekly computer classes linking education with computer based instruction, student counseling for emotionally disturbed children, activity based and research-informed instruction.
