Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) Iqbal Mehmood took notice of the serious charge levelled by the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) against the provincial police for operating death squad to victimise the party’s workers.

According to the spokesman of Karachi police, the chief of provincial police ordered an instant inquiry into the allegation that a death squad existed in the police department and vowed to take strict action in case he finds the charge valid.

The police chief asserted that he would not spare the policemen in case the clues were found to substantiate their involvement in such squad meant to persecute political workers.

Meantime, Rangers sources revealed that the target killers affiliated with the political parties were behind the recent wave of targeted-killings in the metropolis that left scores of people dead.

The paratroopers’ sources also said the incidents of targeted killings sprang out of the criminals’ anger and resentment against each others.
