Islamabad High Court (IHC) has directed the establishment division secretary, cabinet secretary and others to issue promotion orders of 27 bureaucrats besides making payment of all their outstanding dues till April 25.

A single bench of the IHC comprising Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui took up bureaucrats’ promotion case for hearing Monday.

Advocate Muhammad Ramzan appeared on behalf of the petitioners and told that the aggrieved officers had not been promoted on the basis of seniority under the fundamental rights, nor were their outstanding dues being paid to them.

Earlier, as many as 27 officers of grade-19 had filed petition in the IHC against non-issuance of their promotion orders. The court, while giving one month’s time, had directed the concerned authorities to issue the promotion orders of aggrieved officers on the principle of seniority.

Owing to non-implementation of these orders, Ghulam Qasim, Shama ud Din Rana, Arshid Muhammad, Asad Naqvi, Altaf Qadir Pervez, Dr Athar Qayyum, Qamar Saud Qureshi, Dr Samina Afghan and others had filed contempt of court petition in the IHC. The notice was issued to the concerned departments.

The court, while repeating its orders to the concerned departments, adjourned hearing of the case.
