Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Sirajul Haq on Sunday said that his party supports the federal government’s efforts to bring peace in the country.
Talking to reporters after condoling with Senator Ghulam Ali over the demise of his father, Haq said dialogue was the only way for peaceful resolution of issues. He hoped that the dialogue process with the Taliban would bear fruits and peace would return to the country soon.
The JI chief termed the statements of State Minister for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali as undemocratic and demanded that the federal government take notice in this regard.
Commenting on the peace talks with the Taliban, he said that the negotiation process could not be sabotaged as a result of a single incident. He added that the federal government has removed all deadlocks for peace in the country.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) generates its own electricity. “Cutting off the province’s electricity will be unjust,” he maintained.
Haq alleged that the federal government was using different tactics to divert the people’s attention from the real issues.
