A Turkish delegation comprising of former parliamentarians, philanthropists and educationists called on National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq in Parliament House on Thursday.
Talking to the delegation, the speaker said that friendship between the two brotherly countries is time tested and has roots in history. This fact cannot be denied that Turkey has always been a friend in need and stood by Pakistan in difficult times.
The speaker underlined the need for enhanced interaction between the parliamentarians and people of both the countries for further cementing the fraternal relations between the two countries. He said that parliamentarians of the two sides could play a meaningful role in the region as parliamentary diplomacy could enable the real policy makers to understand each-others’ points of view better.
The speaker said, “Turkey’s role in October 2005 earthquake in AJK and KPK and floods in year 2010 throughout the country was commendable and would always be remembered.”
He appreciated Turkish support in infrastructure development, transport and power generations sectors in Pakistan.
The leader of the delegation thanked the speaker for his kind remarks and said that his country will continue its unflinching support to Pakistan in diverse fields. He termed the friendship between his country and Pakistan a historic association that was deeply imbedded in the hearts and minds of the people of both the countries.
