RAWALPINDI – The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has decided to contact Interpol to bring former president Pervez Musharraf back to Pakistan in order to ensure an immediate implementation of arrest warrant issued by the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) for his alleged involvement in Benazir Bhutto’s murder.
FIA prosecutor Chaudhry Zulfiqar told reporters on Saturday that the agency would approach Interpol for arresting Mushrraf after the court ordered immediate implementation of the arrest warrant. The hearing of the case was held in the court of ATC Judge Rana Nisar Ahmed.
Zulfiqar told the court that the warrant had been sent to authorities for compliance by Pakistan’s High Commission in London and the high commission expected a reply from the British Home Office in the near future. He also informed the court that the investigation team had filed a request with the Interior Ministry to bring the former president back to the country. However, no progress had been made in that regard, the court was informed. The proceedings have been adjourned until April 2.
