Shaukatullah Khan on Tuesday resigned from the post of Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the state news channel PTV reported.
According to the report, Khan has sent his resignation to the President House.
He was appointed as the KP governor by the former president Asif Ali Zardari in February 2013.
According to sources, Sardar Mehtab Abbasi is expected to replace Khan.
The appointments imply that front runner and the senior most military officer Lt. Gen. Haroon Aslam, currently serving as Chief of Logistic Staff, was not considered for the position.
