LAHORE
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Vice President Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Sunday said the government has initiated work on budget for next fiscal year in accordance with the directives and proposals of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
Addressing a ceremony organised by the Insaf Student’s Federation (ISF), he said that the ruling party made tall claims before May 12 polls to free the country of debts and shouted slogan of ‘want trade not aid’.
He said that consultation was being held with the debt lenders to prepare budget of the country. The PTI vice president said that ruling party has failed to fulfil any of pledges it made before coming to power.
He said that the Finance Ministry has no plan or strategy to support and strengthen the country’s economy and its all plans were linked to foreign aid.
“Today’s Pakistan is not as dreamt by the Quaid-e-Azam, who led the movement to achieve separate homeland for Muslims of the sub-continent and for which hundreds of thousand people sacrificed their lives,” he added.
Qureshi said that despite having simple majority in Sindh, the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) struggling to keep in alliance with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) for political gains while neglecting the mandate of the people. He alleged that the current PPP was not the party of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and has become party of Asif Zardari instead.
