As many as 12 mortar shells were fired from Afghanistan on Saturday that landed in North Waziristan Agency (NWA).
Pakistan deployed additional troops on its border to ensure security for the Afghan presidential polls.
In first incident, four mortar shells fired from Afghanistan landed in NWA’s Ghulam Khan Tehsil.
After hours, eight more mortar shells were fired into Bhangidar area of NWA. No casualties or loss of life was reported in both incidents.
Pakistan and Afghanistan regularly trade allegations of cross-border shelling. All crossing points have been closed from Saturday until conclusion of polling in the war-torn country.
Communication at Border Coordination Centres on both sides has also been enhanced and a hotline contact has been established between the two military operations directorates. Additionally aerial surveillance was carried out to check any untoward cross border movement.
