Court takes notice of non-registration of woman’s murder case

The Lahore High Court Complaint Cell on Wednesday took notice of non-registration of a case by the police on killing of a woman.

The cell directed the Gujranwala District and Sessions judge to look into the matter and submit a report within a week.

The notice was taken on a press report which stated Sardaran said her daughter Nazia contracted marriage with Qaiser Sindhu and he divorced her in September 2008. She said after the divorce, he used to call her and threaten her.

Once, Sindhu came to their house and took Nazia away at gunpoint. Sardaran said she had filed an application regarding kidnapping with the Gakhar police but it refused to register the report.

She then wrote to the Gujranwala CPO who had forwarded her application to the Ghakhar police but even then they did not take any action. Meanwhile, the Peoples Colony police found the body of Nazia on Haidery Road.

When the victim’s family approached the Ghakhar police to register a murder case, they again ignored on the pretext that the body was not recovered from their jurisdiction.

Whereas, the family of the victim maintained that she had been kidnapped from the remits of the Gakhar Police Station and that the Ghakhar police should file a case.
