Govt plans to bring Land Ports Authority Bill for enhanced trade: Dastagir

Federal Minister for Commerce Engr Khurram Dastagir said on Tuesday that the government had planned to introduce Land Ports Authority Bill to regulate and revamp existing lands port to bolster trade, commerce and business activities in the country.

Addressing a representative meeting of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KPCCI) as the chief guest, the federal minister said the bill would soon be introduced to regulate and improve facilities in land ports in the country to give boost to trade and investment sectors.

This would not only help improve working of land ports but traders, exporters, investors and business community would largely be facilitated, he maintained, adding the land ports authority would help in regulating of a framework and policy besides ensuring better facilities to exporters and traders community in the ports.

Dastagir said the federal govt was striving hard to provide congenial atmosphere to business communities and has planned to create state of the art Land Ports in the country.  He said infrastructure facilities at Torkhum, Chaman and Wahga land ports would be further improved keeping in view its role in promotion of regional trade and investment.
