At least two passengers were killed and six other wounded when unknown gunmen opened fire at a train in Naseerabad district of restive Balochistan province on Monday.

According to a spokesperson of the FC, the Quetta-bound Bugti Express came under attack in Naseerabad, which was on its way from Lahore.

Six passengers were also injured in the firing; officials said, adding that the wounded were shifted to nearby hospitals.

The spokesperson said that helicopter were used to launch a search operation to catch the perpetrators.

Nobody has yet claimed responsibility of the attack, however, Baloch nationalist rebel militant groups have targeted trains in recent past.

In October 2013, seven persons were killed and 16 injured when Jaffar Express was struck by a bomb in the same district.
