The federal government has decided in principle to appoint Mir Zubair Mehmood as Inspector General (IG) Sindh Police.
The decision was taken in complying with the Supreme Court (SC) orders for appointing a permanent IG in the province. Mir Zubair is currently serving as additional IG Balochistan. He has also served as SSP in Lahore and the decision of his appointment was taken keeping in view his excellent track record. Sources said the federal government had informed the Sindh government about the decision.
The civil society has expressed satisfaction over the government’s decision and hoped that Mehmood will be helpful in restoration of peace across Sindh, especially in Karachi city.
