Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rashid Ahmed has blamed that the United States was behind the recent ‘disgraceful’ incident of his offloading from Canada-bound plane.
“Not Canada, but the United States is behind this episode,” Sheikh Rashid told a press conference at his party office on Friday. He said that Advisor to Prime Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz called him to inform that a ban on him has been lifted and he could fly to Canada anytime.
The AML leader said that he had applied for Canadian visa four months ago and he was to make a speech at Pakistan House. He said Canadian High Commission in a letter to him has denied that they stopped him from proceeding to Canada, saying that NOC was not required after the issuance of the visa. He claimed that the airport authorities offloaded him after a phone call from the United States. “It is not the first incident of its kind as earlier Imran Khan had also faced similar situation,” he added.
He said the treatment meted out to a parliamentarian in a democratic system is slap on the face of the Parliament. Lashing out at the Foreign Ministry, he said, “Political eunuchs and clowns do not have courage to deal with the situation daringly.”
Commenting on removal of 60,000 government employees, he said the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government by taking an imprudent act was actual paving the way for Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) to power.
To a question, Sheikh Rashid said that he wishes that peace talks with Taliban will turn out to be successful as the Army was also supporting the process.
