Leader of opposition in the National Assembly Syed Khurshid Shah accused Altaf Hussain of instigating undemocratic forces, adding there was no possibility of MQM joining the Sindh government.

Talking to media at the airport on Saturday, Khurshid Shah said the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain should understand that democracy in the country had come after long struggle and his undemocratic statements would only worsen the situation.

“Altaf Hussain must think before making statements as his words hurt many people,” he added. The leader of opposition further said that the talks with the Taliban should be seen in the context of country suffering heavy losses due to terrorism.

He said Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan kept on changing his stance on talks with the Taliban, while opposition only wanted the government to restore peace in the country. Shah said the PPP and MQM were the parties which had different ideologies. He urged other politicians to avoid non-democratic statements as they were not in the interests of the country and democracy.
