ISLAMABAD –

The Supreme Court on Thursday upheld the decision of Sindh High Court regarding the delimitation of constituencies, a private news channel reported.

The apex court ruled in its verdict that the Sindh government should announce schedule of the local bodies elections before November 15, 2014.

The delimitation of constituencies and holding elections was the responsibility of the Election Commission of Pakistan, added the ruling.

On January 4, the Sindh government filed an appeal in the SC against SHC’s verdict of December 26, 2013 that declared the fresh delimitations as illegal.

Advocate General (AG) Sindh, Khalid Jawed Khan had filed the petition on behalf of the provincial government in the apex court’s Karachi registry.
