China Gezhouba group to produce 2640 MW electricity at Gadani

Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Asif Tuesday witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between China Gezhouba Group Company Limited (CGGC) and the Private Power and Infrastructure Board (PPIB).

In the MoU signed on Tuesday, the CGGC has expressed interest to install three projects of 660MW each (1980MW) based on imported coal at Gadani. Earlier in January this year, the PPIB had signed an MoU with CGGC in Beijing for the development of a 660MW power plant at Gadani. However, the CGGC has shown interest in developing another three plants at Gadani thus totalling 2640MW with an investment outlay of $ 3.4 to 4 billion.

Managing Director of PPIB NA Zuberi signed the MoU on behalf of the government while the President of Gezhouba Group Chen Xiao Hua signed on behalf of the company. Secretary Water & Power Saifullah Chatta and other senior officials were also present on the occasion.
