KARACHI – The Sindh Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has sought explanation from the provincial government on the buildings being used by the Pakistan Rangers Sindh, besides unpaid utility bills.
With PAC Chairman Jam Tamachi Unnar in chair, a meeting was held to discuss the formal audit reports of the Law, Industries, Commerce and Labour departments. Unnar has written to the Sindh government, seeking explanation on the buildings being used by Rangers, and the utility bills that are unpaid since 2006-07.
The PAC chairman expressed reservations on some of the audit reports, unpaid bills and other dues. Although some of the matters were settled after submitting relevant documents, the PAC took notice of the four-year delay in presenting the documents, which the departments concerned must have furnished at the time of the audit.
Unnar said that the committee held recommendatory powers and hoped that activation of the PAC would make a good impact on the working of the departments with regard to checking. A committee or a commission would be constituted for solving all matters in an amicable and unbiased manner, he added.
