WB likely to approve assistance for Dasu Hydel Project

World Bank’s Country Director Rachid Benmessaoud said on Monday that the World Bank was expected to approve the assistance for Dasu Hydel Power Project.

The WB country director called on Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and discussed issues related to World Bank assistance to Pakistan. He said the WB was encouraged by the positive trend of the economic indicators and expected to approve the assistance for Dasu Hydel Power Project.

He said the managing director of the World Bank Sri Mulyani Indrawati would be visiting Islamabad in the last week of March to discuss Pakistan development projects. He informed the minister about the preparations being made in connection with her visit.

The finance minister expressed hope that the visit would be a successful one and would open the road to co-operation in many areas of mutual interest. Ishaq Dar further said that Pakistan’s economy was moving in the right direction, adding that the government would continue to engage with multi-lateral for a including World Bank for assistance in energy and infrastructure development programmes initiated by the government.
