Indian companies ready to supply energy: PIBC

Pak-India Business Council (PIBC) Chairman Noor Muhammad Kasuri claimed that three companies of India working in power and energy sectors had expressed their willingness to supply energy to help control the energy crisis in Pakistan.

He expressed these views while talking to APP Sunday upon his return from India after a two-week visit. He said he had held separate meetings with Deepak Ameeitab, Chairman Power Trading Corporation of India, Sudhir Wasu Dev, Chairman Oil & Natural Gas Corporation, and Amiet Kumar, Senior Vice President Global Energy Pvt Ltd, during his visit to India.

He said the Indian companies were not only interested in supplying electricity to Pakistan but also sincerely wanted to bring Pakistan out of the energy crisis. Kasuri said that he had also held meetings with officials of State Bank of India and other government and private organizations during his visit.

He said that Indian business organizations wanted to make joint ventures in Pakistan to promote business and industrial activities in textile, cement and marble sectors etc. India had also reduced non-tariff barriers on some items from Pakistan, he added.
