Another child died in a hospital in the drought-hit region of Thar increasing the death toll to 169 on Thursday, while 30 more children from the area were admitted to hospitals for various health issues.

According to reports four children have died in the past three days.

Relief supplies are pouring in the region but the far-flung villages of the desert district are still waiting for ration supplies and migrating to other areas for sustenance.

Drought and hunger have also hit other arid regions of Sindh, particularly in Khairpur and Sanghar districts.

Rescue operation was facing delay due to rough terrain while rescue teams are yet to reach Kitaar, Jitrad, Kesrad and several other villages of Tharparkar.

According to statistics, around 300 were undergoing treatment in local hospitals of the district.

However, the health situation was getting better in rural areas of Tharparkar while a decline in migration of locals was also reported due to the ongoing relief operation.

Sindh government had earlier removed its Minister for Relief and Revenue Makhdoom Jamiluz Zaman, Minister for Livestock and Fisheries Jam Khan Shoro and Relief Commissioner Lala Fazalur Rehman over Thar relief issue.

According to sources, Zaman, Shoro and Lala have been removed from their posts for not coping with the relief issue efficiently in famine-hit Tharparkar.
