LAHORE-

The protesting nurses split into two groups on Wednesday in Lahore following the announcement by the Young Nurses Association (YNA) general secretary to end the sit-in after talks with the government committee, a private news channel reported.

The YNA held a protest rally on Tuesday and staged a sit-in in front of the Punjab Assembly against the sacking of nurses and the non-regularisations in their departments across Punjab.

On Tuesday night, provincial health advisor Khwaja Salman Rafiq held a meeting with the YNA and assured that case regarding regularisation of 814 nurses has been forwarded to the government.

YNA General Secretary Shahnaz Kausar announced an end to the sit-in but a group of nurses insisted on continuing the protest until their demands were met, rejecting the verbal assurance by the government.
