Why should CM resign? asks Khuhro

Senior Minister Nisar Ahmed Khuhro has rejected demands for the Sindh chief minister’s resignation on drought in Tharparkar district.

Talking to journalists after attending a seminar by Pakistan Institute of Legislative Development and Transparency (PILDAT) at a local hotel on Tuesday, he said public representatives were not responsible for the prevailing situation in Tharparkar. He said the government formulated policies and it was the responsibility of the bureaucracy to implement them, therefore, action should be taken against officials for showing any negligence.

Answering a question, the PPP leader said the chairman and the co-chairman of the party could call the chief minister and provincial ministers any time for consultation and changes in the ministries were routine a routine matter. He welcomed the announcement of Rs 1 billion relief package by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for the drought-affected people of Tharparkar.

The minister said a strategy had been devised to cope with the situation in Tharparkar and strict monitoring of officials would also be ensured. He hoped that the situation in Tharparkar would improve. Answering another question, he said that reservations on de-limitation of constituencies were delaying local bodies elections.
