LAHORE – Prolific art pieces defining the significance of seasonal change were exhibited by Matloob Baig at Royaat Gallery on Thursday. Around 21 eye-catching paintings with lively colours and creative scenarios were captured by the brush of Matloob Baig one of Pakistan’s most thrilling painters who received his Masters of Arts from the Punjab University, Lahore.
The exhibition attracted many people on the inaugural day and students, artists, businessmen and people from all walks of life showed up to appreciate the masterpieces of Matloob Baig. “Its hard to capture such a sensitive topic like ‘Changing Seasons’, but its amazing how Baig has converted his sight, feeling and vibes into a portrait”, Asma, an arts student said.
Paintings such as springs in crop fields, moments of dawn near a meadow, tied up boats in a pound, leafless trees, valleys and trees in dense fog kept amazing the visitors. “The touch of realism in Baig’s painting makes his work stand out from many”, Aasia Ishtiyaq, a mother of two, said.
“Using a vibrant colour palate and vivid strokes, Matloob has captured wonderful movement in his landscapes, depicting the interplay between wind and sunlight,” Faryal Arif Latif, director of Royaat, said. The Royaat Art Gallery was established in 2001. Royaat translated from Arabic means a place of beauty.
The gallery has shown many works of Pakistani master painters. The mission of Royaat is to ensure the highest standards of arts and create a space to promote Pakistani culture. Until now, Royaat has organised more than 50 shows to its credit and manages the sale of Pakistani art in Pakistan and abroad.
