‘PUCIT is producing 500 graduates every year’

LAHORE – The Punjab University College of Information Technology (PUCIT) produces 500 graduates every year and 17 faculty members are doing PhDs from national and international varsities, PUCIT Principal Dr Mansoor Sarwar said on Thursday. He was talking to journalists at the Old Campus. Sarwar said that the varsity administration was trying to have an 80 percent PhD faculty. He said that research papers have increased by five times and 60 papers of the college’s faculty have been published in various journals.
The PUCIT principal said that the institution was offering BS, MS, PhD and various short IT courses. He said that strict merit was being followed while admitting students and financial aid provided to deserving and poor students. Sarwar said that the college was facing financial crisis when he took over as principal in 2006 but the position was much better now. He said that more than 7,000 admission applications were received last year against 540 seats which provided evidence of the college’s high standard.
