Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) Chief Minister (CM) Pervez Khattak has said that financial constraints are a major issue in the speedy development of the province, but it never impeded the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf’s (PTI) way forward.
Pervez Khattak expressed these views while talking to a three-member delegation of PTI Chitral district, led by MPA Bibi Fozia, that called on him at Peshawar CM Secretariat and apprised him of certain public problems, besides demanding a package for the area.
Era of progress and prosperity is ushering in KP soon, Khattak said, adding that the PTI-led government, instead of taxing or burdening the people for resources, will get their arrears and share of hydel net profit from the Centre for which the KP Senior Minister Finance Sirajul Haq was doing serious efforts.
“The present PTI-led coalition government believes in such a development that besides construction of roads, schools and colleges can also enhance job opportunities and the poor can also prosper,” he said.
The KPK CM said, “Our government wants uniform development of the province with judicious use of the developmental funds where no discrimination is made against any part of the province. However, remote and backward areas are to be given preference on need basis wherein transparent use of funds will be ensured so that the public money does not go wasted or gets transferred to the pockets of the individuals, but purely spent on the welfare of the masses”.
Pervez Khattak said that Chitral was indeed a far-flung, backward district of the province while the provincial government was taking concrete steps to bring such parts at par with the developed areas of the province and provide basic amenities to its people to ameliorate their lot accordingly. However, he said, lack of resources greatly hinders our way.
He assured the delegation that new developmental schemes would be included in the next ADP. About demand of establishment of a university in Chitral, he said that the government was focusing on providing sufficient educational facilities to the existing two campuses of universities in the area, and issued proper directives to the concerned authorities in this regard.
