Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Saturday took serious notice of Minister for Defence Khawaja Asif’s statement regarding launching a full-fledged operation against the TTP if violation of ceasefire continues.
According to reporters, the PM took notice of the statement because he still believed in to resolving the problem with dialogue.
The prime minister is thinking about imposing a ban on ministers to give any statement regarding dialogues and operation against Taliban, sources said.
Earlier on Friday, Khawaja Asif had told a foreign news agency that the government would not hesitate to bomb militant hideouts or send forces into the tribal areas if the TTP did not abide by the ceasefire announced last weekend.
“It will not take months now, we will have to march in the month of March,” Asif said in the interview with a British news agency, describing the government’s response if insurgents persisted in their attacks despite the ceasefire.
“If there is a ceasefire, it has to be complete. Without that, we just cannot afford to have talks with the Taliban”, the minister added.
