‘We will clean Punjab as we cleaned Lahore’

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that after successful experiment of solid waste management in the provincial metropolis, a modern system of cleanliness is being introduced in five big cities of Punjab including Faisalabad, Multan, Gujranwala, Sialkot and Rawalpindi.

The chief minister was talking to a delegation led by Al-Bayrak Board of Directors Chairman Ahmat Al-Bayrak on Wednesday. Cooperation in energy, solid waste management and other sectors was discussed in the meeting.

Shahbaz said that a number of projects were running successfully in Lahore and different cities of the province with the cooperation of Turkey. He said that a system of solid waste management on the pattern of Lahore is being devised for other cities of the province as well. He said that Punjab government is extending special facilities to foreign investors in the province. He said that after Lahore, metro bus project is being started in Rawalpindi and would result in provision of speedy, comfortable and economical travelling facilities to millions of citizens.

Ahmat Al-Bayrak said that his group would promote cooperation with Punjab in different sectors. Describing metro bus project as a masterpiece, he said that completion of this project within a short period of time is a big achievement of the chief minister.

The delegation included former Turkey Energy and Privatisation Director General Hasan Koktas, former minister for environment and forests Osman Pepe, Al-Bayrak Waste Management Managing Director Bahri Tursakoz and Binyamin Karaka whereas Lahore Transport Company Chairman Khwaja Ahmad Hasaan, energy additional chief secretary, local government secretary and Lahore Management Company managing director were also present on the occasion.

  2. All of Lahore is not clean yet! Check out the Railway land on GT Road near Baghbanpura. Its a vast dump of plastic shopper bags. Someone needs to do something about it….
