A Baloch tribe jirga (local group of unelected decision makers) in Dera Ghazi Khan has issued an edict against the Mari tribe, in which it has announced that any person from the tribe entering Punjab will be killed.
The jirga said Balochistan-based Mari tribe persons are involved in the killing of Balochis residing in Punjab province and lamented that despite knowledge of the culprits, government is merely playing role of a spectator.
The meeting of jirga warned Mari tribe’s head to hand over killers to them or the government.
The jirga also announced to block Balochistan-Punjab highway until killers of Baloch tribesmen were nabbed.
