The basic job of a journalist is to bring out the facts and then it is the people who will decide what is right or wrong, said Senate Chairman Syed Nayyar Hussain Bukhari while addressing a function organised to observe Hamid Nizami Day at Aiwan-e-Karkunan Tehrik-e-Pakistan on Saturday.

He said that the continuity of the system was necessary to make it more refined, adding that it was the job of the parliament to make laws and implementation of municipal laws was necessary for good working of the system.

He said that betterment was not possible without the support of the people and the masses should play their due role in it.

He also lauded the efforts of Majid Nizami and Nazaria-i-Pakistan Trust to advance the vision of Hamid Nizami.

Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Chaudhry Barjees Tahir blamed the dictators for harming the country. He said the Kashmir issue should be resolved under the United Nation resolutions.

He said that Kashmiris should be given their right to self-determination through talks. He also paid rich tribute to Hamid Nizami.

Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar said that some foreign elements wanted to destabilise the country and the time had come that media, civil society, religious organisations and political parties should get united to stop the elements and not let them succeed in their nefarious designs.

He said that it was difficult to stop terrorism in the country where international actors were also playing their role in it.

“Terrorism and peace talks cannot go side by side and the whole nation should be on the same page to get rid of terrorism,” he added.

Paying tribute to Hamid Nizami, the governor said he had worked for Nazaria-i-Pakistan journalism and his social services were equally commendable.
