No military operation going on, says Nisar

ISLAMABAD-

Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Friday said that presently only a targeted operation was being carried out in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA), a private news channel reported.

Khan was speaking on the floor of the National Assembly.

Terming the current military strikes as a targeted operation, the minister said that the decision for a (comprehensive) military operation has not been decided upon by the government and such a decision, if taken, would be taken in a stealthy manner.

He further said that the targeted operation has caused a minimal damage to the local population, adding that the number of those displaced in the aftermath was not great enough to require a process of formal transportation and registration.

A meeting of the the four chief ministers on the security policy is likely to be called by the that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Khan added.

Talking about the situation in Karachi, the interior minister said that the authorities are taking all necessary actions to ensure safety of life and property in the city.
