Non-compliance of orders in OGRA case angers SC

Justice Jawwad S Khawaja on Thursday said there was no progress in OGRA implementation case despite the passage of two years and four months and it seemed that investigation was not held in a transparent manner.
He said that the court had decided the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) implementation case on November 25, 2011.
Justice Khawaja remarked this while chairing a two-member bench when it resumed hearing of the OGRA implementation case.
Justice Khawaja also said that the court had asked the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) two years ago to submit a detailed report in 45 days but the report was not submitted.
During the course of proceedings, NAB Prosecutor KK Agha informed the court that NAB performs its duty under its laws.
He said that the court could not direct NAB to investigate a case in a stipulated time period.
On this, Justice Khawaja remarked that if NAB or any other government functionary, would not perform its duty, then the court would have to intervene to resolve the problems.
Later, the court directed the NAB prosecutor to submit report and adjourned the hearing until next week.
