ISLAMABAD
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Monday issued orders for timely completion of pending developmental projects to benefit people.
Nawaz issued these directions while chairing a meeting to review the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) at the Prime Minister’s House.
He said that projects that have been properly planned and executed with efficiency and having high public utility should continue and be completed within stipulated time-frame.
The PM showed dissatisfaction over poor implementation of several developmental projects in last many years and said that such delays adversely affected the government’s development agenda. He said best human resources should be placed in key ministries and on key projects for ensuring efficient and on-time completion of projects.
He emphasised that placement should be made purely on merit, without practicing any favouritism and nepotism. Moreover, the PM directed the Planning Division to formulate appropriate compensation mechanism, based on market rates, for those employees who are delivering results and are working efficiently.
While referring to project procurements, Nawaz issued directions that a framework should be developed to monitor procurements by independent auditors and complete transparency should be ensured.
The PM directed the planning minister to conduct a comprehensive review of the PSDP and file a report in this regard.
