South Korea is planning to develop cyber-attack tools in a bid to damage North Korean nuclear facilities.

The South Korean defence ministry “seeks developing weapons on the model of the software ‘Stuxnet’, which was designed to attack Iran’s nuclear enrichment plants,” the country’s news agency said last week.

The plan to cyber-attack tools for physically damaging North Korea’s nuclear plants is the second phase of a strategy that commenced in 2010.

The official news agency quoted a senior ministry official, saying on the second phase’s establishment, “the cyber-command will carry out comprehensive cyber-warfare missions”.
