18 militants perish in Tirah air raids

At least 18 militants were killed and many were injured on Sunday early morning in air strikes by Pakistani fighter jets on suspected militant hideouts in Tirah Valley, a private news channel reported.

According to security officials, various hideouts in the Tirah valley of the Khyber Agency were targeted during the air strikes.

The raids also destroyed an improvised explosives device (IEDs) making factory and a huge cache of arms, ammunition and explosive materials.

On Saturday, gunship helicopters pounded militant hideouts in Thall area of Hangu district, killing at least nine militants.

On Feb 20, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif gave a go ahead for the airstrikes in North Waziristan and Khyber agencies following consultations with the top military leadership of Pakistan.
