Three including two foreigners robbed

The capital city Saturday saw unidentified armed men rob three people including two foreigners while the police arrested an extortionist and got his three-day physical remand from court.

The police said that unidentified motorcyclists stopped two foreign women who were returning after shopping in Super Market, Sector F-6. The accused snatched purse from the women and sped away. The victim told the police that foreign and Pakistani currency amounting to Rs 70,000, mobile phones and other documents were in their purses.

Meanwhile, the police arrested an accused who claimed to be member of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) involved in receiving extortion money from citizens by threatening them through telephone calls. The detainee identified as Faheem Khan hailed from Sector F-8 of Capital and stated to be an employee of a private TV channel. The accused was produced in court and later given into police custody on three-day physical remand.

Separate cases have been registered in all incidents at concerned police stations and investigations were in progress.
