Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) leader Adalat Khan and two others were killed in an improvised explosive devise (IED) attack near Buner District in Khyber Pakhtunkwa (KP) on Saturday.
The police officials said that another three people were injured in the attack on Khan’s car and were sent to Peshawar’s Lady Reading Hospital.
Police officer Ghulam Khan said that Khan was on his way from his village Gokand Dara to Daggar. His vehicle was targeted near Shoogan. The car was damaged and Khan and his aide Abid and a passerby were killed on the spot.
So far no one claimed responsibility for the attack, but Ghulam Khan said, “It is purely an act of terrorism.” He said that efforts were underway to arrest the culprits.
The Bomb Disposal Sqad has also been called in the area. The injured and dead bodies were shifted to the nearby hospital.
In Peshawar, a man was killed in a bombing in Nasir Bagh.
Adalat Khan had served as tehsil nazim for around four years. He remained Buner District Bar Association president and had played a key role in mobilising people against terrorism as an active peace committee member.
